I had a great experience at StartSteps! The registration process was very easy because the staff helped with all the paperwork and even borrowing a computer for the course! All the teachers are professionals in their respective field who are also enthusiastic about sharing their trade knowledge and even giving relevant advice. A clear recommendation from me!

Why should I do an orientation course before a specialised course or bootcamp?
Taking an orientation course before diving into a specialised course or bootcamp is essential for several reasons.
Firstly, it helps you identify the digital skill and career that best suits you, ensuring you make an informed decision about your educational path (#WhatToStudy).
Secondly, it allows you to discover the most suitable bootcamp for your studies (#WhereToStudy).
Additionally, you gain real-world insights from industry role models and receive personalized career guidance and skills assessments (#Confidence).
By investing in an orientation course, you set a strong foundation for success in your chosen field, enhancing both your confidence and readiness for more specialised training.
What makes the StartSteps Compass orientation course unique compared to other orientation courses?
We collaborate with over 45 leading Digital Career Bootcamps across Germany, all of which you’ll have the opportunity to meet during our orientation course.
Rather than pushing our own courses at StartSteps, we provide you with the freedom to explore over 130 other specialised courses.
This approach ensures you discover not only the best place for you to study but also the course that perfectly suits your learning style and career aspirations.
Where do I continue my training after the orientation course?
With the guidance of our program and partnerships manager, we assist you in finding the ideal course at the best bootcamp for your further studies.
We also help you obtain the necessary education voucher for the course, enabling you to continue your studies at no cost.
We firmly believe that ‘one size fits all’ does not apply to bootcamps, ensuring a personalised approach to your educational journey.
Is the course taught by live teachers?
Yes—all 23 days of the course involve a live teach for 100% of the class hours.
What is an AVGS (Activation and Placement Voucher) and how do I get one?
An AVGS (Activation and Placement Voucher, according to SGB 3 §45) is a tool for active labor market support and can be used for measures aimed at introduction, stabilization, and the elimination of barriers. An AVGS can be applied for by providing a brief explanation and submitting a proposal for the desired course to the relevant office. Advisors and agents at the Employment Agency or Jobcenter make individual decisions on the issuance of these vouchers.
What is the difference between an AVGS and a BGS (education voucher)?
An AVGS (Activation and Placement Voucher, according to SGB 3 §45) is primarily aimed at measures for job activation and integration, including introductory, stabilization, and barrier removal programs. It is designed to help unemployed or underemployed individuals engage more fully with the labor market.
On the other hand, a BGS (education voucher, according to SGB 3 §81) is a subsidy specifically for further training and education. This funding supports participants in acquiring specific skills through formal courses, such as specialized bootcamps, enhancing their qualifications and employability. While both vouchers aim to improve the participant’s job market opportunities, the AVGS focuses more broadly on employment activation and overcoming individual challenges to employment, whereas the BGS is focused specifically on educational advancement.
Can I receive both an AVGS and a BGS?
Since an AVGS and a BGS can complement each other effectively, it is possible to receive both vouchers.
However, the decision is always made on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of the responsible staff at the Employment Agency or Job Center.
Can I do the course in person?
Unfortunately not. The course will take place online, in a live setting with instructors and teaching assistants.
Can I take part even if I have no experience in technology?
Of course, this program is made for students of all backgrounds and levels of experience.
Is attendance compulsory?
Yes, attendance is compulsory for the whole duration of the course.
Will I receive a certificate at the end of the course?
You will receive a StartSteps certificate that states the course content details and the course length.
Is there a job guarantee?
We don’t provide a job guarantee for this course. This course is an orientation for your further career.
